NS BlueScope Vietnam’s factory in Phú Mỹ has been certified with ResponsibleSteelTM, becoming the first in Việt Nam’s steel industry to achieve the certificate.
NS BlueScope Vietnam’s factory in Phú Mỹ Town, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province, has been certified with the ResponsibleSteelTM certificate, becoming the first in Việt Nam’s steel industry and the first alloy-coated steel plant in Southeast Asia to achieve the honour.
The Phú Mỹ factory also is the third responsible steel manufacturer of BlueScope’s global production facilities in the world.
To be eligible for this certificate, a business must meet 12 strict criteria in ESG that are specifically designed for the steel industry. These criteria enable businesses to have a common transparent roadmap applied globally for responsible steel manufacturing. NS BlueScope Việt Nam’s plant in Phú Mỹ Town meets these strict criteria, which is rarely seen in the industry.
“This is a proud milestone in our sustainable development journey aligned with NS BlueScope's ESG standards, further affirming that we are not only a technology leader in the pre-painted steel industry but also a pioneering business in ESG practices,” said Võ Minh Nhựt, President of NS BlueScope Vietnam. “We sincerely appreciate the support and companionship of our esteemed partners during this time, which has motivated us to continue growing and increasingly contribute towards building a sustainable and thriving business community,” said Nhựt.
Previously, in 2022, NS BlueScope Vietnam was also the first coated steel manufacturer and the only of its kind in Việt Nam to be certified green label by the Singapore Green Building Council. The Company’s factory in Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu also gained the LEED Gold Certificate.
Being certified ResponsibleSteelTM not only helps NS BlueScope Vietnam to envision its roadmap in producing steel responsibly but also inspires other businesses in the industry, partners, and suppliers to adopt ESG practices following ResponsibleSteelTM standards, thereby sharing ESG values and contributing to building more sustainable steel community. — VNS
