Housing developer Novaland Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Can Tho to develop tourism property projects in the Mekong Delta city.
The projects include Can Tho wharf at the former Hau Giang wharf and the Con Son Island tourism area.
The 3.5ha wharf in Ninh Kieu District will be used for passenger and cargo transport and tourism.
“Close co-operation is needed to make the 13 Mekong provinces and Can Tho City an ideal tourism destination,” Bui Xuan Huy, general director of Novaland Group, said.
“Novaland has negotiated with many famous hotel management brands like Marriott, Wyndham, Novotel, Banyan, and Tree to bring them to Can Tho.
“We have also co-operated with local authorities to find suitable models that meet international standards but retain the significant aspects of the Mekong Delta.”
Earlier, the company had signed a strategic agreement with the Boston Consulting Group and Military Bank for developing tourism projects in Mekong provinces that are adapted to climate change.
This year has seen a change in Novaland’s business strategy: investment in the tourism property segment.
It has opened its first tourism property project, the Azerai Can Tho hotel.
The company said in addition to Can Tho it would also develop tourism properties in other promising provinces and cities like Dong Nai, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Da Nang, Phan Thiet, Cam Ranh, Quy Nhon, and Da Lat.
Novaland is a giant developer which has around 40 housing projects mostly in HCM City. — VNS
