Four wind power projects were scheduled to be completed in the south central province of Ninh Thuan by the end of 2018, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

They include the second phase of the Dam Nai wind power plant in Ninh Hai and Thuan Bac districts, Mui Dinh plant in Thuan Nam District, and the Trung Nam and Cong Hai plants in Thuan Bac District.

The first phase of Dam Nai went into operation in August last year. Covering an area of 9.6 hectares, the Dam Nai wind power project has a total investment of US$80 million. Its construction began in April 2017.

The 40MW project consists of 16 wind turbines, supplied by Spain’s Gamesa and installed by Viet Nam’s TSV Joint Stock Company and Singapore’s renewable developer The Blue Circle.

By the end of September, Ninh Thuan had 15 more solar power projects with a total designed capacity of 1,100MW. These projects will bring the total number of the projects of this kind in the province to 29, with a combined capacity of over 1,938MW.

Since the beginning of this year, construction has started on 16 projects which are expected to be finished before 2019.

Aiming to become the country’s renewable energy hub, the province is promoting investment attraction and creating the best possible conditions for investors to accelerate the progress of renewable energy projects.

Investors operating in renewable energy will be exempt from land rent during the implementation of projects and benefit from a corporate income tax waiver for four years. Additionally, the projects will also be exempt from tariffs on imported goods. — VNS
