Nestlé promotes Vietnamese coffee with fam tour for foreign journalists


Nestlé Vietnam has organised a tour for international journalists to the Nescafé Plan sustainable coffee cultivation project in the Central Highlands provinces to learn about the process of creating clean and high-quality Vietnamese coffee beans in a closed value chain from farm to cup.

Nestlé Vietnam has organised a tour for international journalists to the Nescafé Plan sustainable coffee cultivation project in the Central Highlands provinces to learn about the process of creating clean and high-quality Vietnamese coffee beans in a closed value chain from farm to cup.

The tour is part of a series of activities carried out by the company to promote Vietnamese coffee to the world, it said.

During their trip, the journalists visited a coffee nursery operated by Nestlé and the Western Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute as part of the project to grow high-yield, disease-resistant coffee seedlings.

They also toured a Nestlé coffee processing facility in the southern province of Dong Nai that uses modern technology to process locally grown coffee to supply the domestic and international markets.

The company said since 2011, under the project, over 27 million high-yield, disease-resistant coffee seedlings have been supplied to farmers in the Central Highlands to help them replace over 21,000ha of old, stunted coffee trees.

The project supports farmers not only in sustainable farming complying with international 4C (Common Code for Coffee Community) standards, but also in managing the quality of their harvests and improving their ability to acquire market information. — VNS
