On the occasion of Lunar New Year, Nestlé Vietnam and other agencies and organisations have given gifts to thousands of people living in difficult circumstances across the country.

It has co-ordinated with the Golden Heart Charity Fund, Đồng Nai Province Labour Confederation, the Red Cross of Mỹ Hảo Town in Hưng Yên Province, and others to donate nearly 6,000 packs of Milo barley milk and soy sauce, Nescafé coffee and Nestea iced tea.

Nguyễn Thị Như Ý, chairwoman of the Đồng Nai Labour Confederation, said: “The company’s support will empower workers in their efforts to overcome difficulties and rise in life, and have a warm and joyful Lunar New Year."

Since 1995 Nestlé has been working with various partners to do charity.

Meanwhile, as part of its annual community activities, Central Retail Group, the Red Cross Society and authorities in places where GO! and Big C supermarkets are located have launched a programme called “Tết Nhân ái” to give away gifts worth nearly VNĐ1 billion (US$40,817) to disadvantaged households to help celebrate Tết.

Each gift is valued at VNĐ200,000 and includes a Lohas environmentally friendly bag and essential items such as cooking oil, fish sauce, MSG, and sugar.

This is for the 15th year that Central Retail is carrying out such a programme. — VNS
