The Authority of Information Security under the Ministry of Information and Communications recently gave some recommendations to protect legal rights and interests of customers and enterprises following alleged data leaks from The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World) Corporation and FPT Shop.
The leaked information was posted on an online forum at the beginning of this month.
The authority has started investigating the case. Its latest notification said there had been no signs of attacks on the information processing system of users of Mobile World.
For FPT Shop, the authority said the information posted was determined to be sample information used in a process of developing a system from 2017, reported Buu dien Viet Nam (Viet Nam Post) newspaper.
However, the authority recommended users be wary of malware when downloading files with unclear sources.
To protect users as well as enterprises, especially individual information, the authority asked organisations and enterprises to enhance management and technical measure to ensure information security, review weaknesses on the information system and monitor to detect risks and signs of cyber attacks.
To users, the authority recommended caution in providing individual and payment information for online services and to use authorised online payment services. — VNS
