HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung has sought clarity from the Department of Information Security on the Information Security Law, passed on November 19.

Speaking at a meeting to review the department's activities this year and plan for the next year, Hung said concrete regulations were needed to set up a firm information security market in Viet Nam, where businesses were capable of satisfying people's requirements.

The law, which was passed by the Vietnamese National Assembly, consists of eight chapters and 54 articles, regulating the network information security activities, rights and duties of agencies, organisations in ensuring the network information security activities, and civil secret code, apart from technical standards, business, human resources and state management on network information security.

The law also encourages state agencies, organisations and enterprises to outsource security services, a department official said.

"We should make information security a ‘meal taken at an inn' about which everyone can care and can do business, therefore, the market can be formed," Hung said.

To do that, markets need service providers which have enough competence, he added.

The country's security market needs more enterprises like CMC Infosec and BKAV in order to develop as expected, the deputy minister emphasised.

A department representative said the department would continue the survey and study the statistics on the information security situation, products and services in the coming year, as well as co-operating with relevant agencies to check and evaluate the implementation on e-transaction of digital signatures and digital signature certification services. — VNS
