HÀ NỘI — Meta has launched Instagram Teen Accounts in Việt Nam, offering built-in protections for young users and peace of mind for parents.
This new feature, which is also rolling out across the Asia-Pacific region, aims to ensure a safer experience for teens using the platform.
Teen Accounts come with default privacy settings, limiting who can contact teens and the content they can access. Users under 16 will automatically be placed in these accounts, and their parents must approve any changes to make the settings less strict.
Key features include private accounts, restricted messaging, sensitive content limitations and time limits.
Parents can also set daily usage limits and block their teens from using the app during certain times. Additionally, Instagram provides insights into who teens are messaging, though parents cannot read the messages.
Teens under 16 will need parental permission to make changes to their account settings, and Instagram will require age verification to prevent underage users from accessing adult content. The new system is being gradually implemented, starting this week. — VNS
