HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — New technologies, creation of value chains and new agricultural production models will be discussed at the Mekong Connect-CEO Forum 2016 in Can Tho City on October 26.
Vu Kim Hanh, chairwoman of the Business Association for High Quality Vietnamese Products, said the forum would also feature discussions on "clean rice" production and consumption, exchanges between start-ups and investors, and exhibitions on agricultural technologies and products of start-up projects.
The forum will include more than 700 delegates, including policymakers, leaders of Mekong Delta cities and provinces, businesspeople from HCM City, Ha Noi and the Mekong Delta, foreign and Vietnamese speakers, farmers producing VietGap, GlobalGap and organic farm produce and start-ups nationwide.
The Cuu Long Delta with 13 cities and provinces plays an important role in the country's economy, accounting for 80 per cent of rice export value, and nearly 60 per cent seafood export value.
But drought, saltwater intrusion and a lack of fresh water caused by climate change have seriously affected the delta's agricultural production as well as the life of people.
The forum will provide a platform for businesses to share their experience in overcoming challenges, said Truong Quang Hoai Nam, deputy chairman of the Can Tho People's Committee.
Localities will share their successes and failures and listen to enterprises speak about their needs, he said. — VNS
