ĐÀ NẴNG — A large hand-screeded floor of the PI Vina Quảng Trị Garment Production and Processing Factory project under the construction of Đà Nẵng-based Dinco Engineering and Construction company has won a Golden Trowel in the 2024 Golden Trowel Contest, and automatically entered into the global contest at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on January 21-22.
Chairman of DINCO company Lê Trường Kỹ, confirmed to Việt Nam News that it is the only construction company in the region to have qualified for the world award in the engineering and construction sector.
He said the contest organisers had sent a congratulation notice to the company for the recognition of the Golden Trowel Asia contest and the qualification in the Worldwide Golden Trowel.
Kỹ said the project, which was invested by a Korean investor, in Quảng Trị Province, has a total floor area of 11,940sq.m with 22m wide placements.
The hand screeding process of the floors was judged in terms of its combined flatness and levelness, and were the highest floors ever seen in the large wet screed category -- a World Record floor and a World Record total score - according to Jeff Rogers, director of Engineering The Face Companies, the award organising committee.
Last year, DINCO E&C company officially became a new member of the German Business Association (GBA) after a long-term co-operation relationship with GBA with the qualified engineering quality.
Dinco, the biggest contractor services for construction of industrial factories and plants in central Việt Nam, has been building a series of hi-tech industries projects in Đà Nẵng, including KP Vina Aircraft Component Factory Sunshine Aerospace Aviation component factory of the US Universal Alloy Corporation Việt Nam, and the twin tower trading house project Đà Nẵng Landmark of Japanese firms Sun Frontier and Cosmos Housing.
It’s also the second time a construction project by a domestic contractor in central Việt Nam has won a world engineering award.
In the past years, Rồng (Dragon) Bridge, which spans the Hàn River in Đà Nẵng City, also won the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award in Arlington, Virginia, USA.
The Dragon Bridge also claimed the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Diamond Award in the category of structural systems in the Engineering Excellence Awards Competition.
Meanwhile, ASA Lighting Design Studio Company designed the bridge’s lighting design also took the Lighting Design award at the FX International Design Awards in London.
The bridge was registered for the Guinness World Record as the ‘largest steel dragon’.
