Kaspersky has integrated new updates for its anti-virus and internet security products for 2020 which significantly improve both performance and user experience.

This year, Kaspersky has focused on strengthening their defences against network exploits such as the infamous EternalBlue used by malicious software such as WannaCry or SMBloris.

Another type of threat dealt with in this update is remote access tools (RATs) to ensure users are protected from getting a RAT without their consent.

Kaspersky has also improved protection against exploiting vulnerabilities in popular programmes such as Microsoft Office. This is a common way for cybercriminals to attack a system.

From the new versions, all communications between the products and servers are encrypted. This means any data from the 2020 versions of Kaspersky products when exchanged with the servers cannot be intercepted or modified.

The company has added two-factor authentication to My Kaspersky accounts.

In particular, Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac has received a new dark theme, and security has been strengthened. The safe money feature has new enhancements, and users are now automatically prompted to scan external storage devices for malware once they are connected.

Compared to the 2019 version, Kaspersky has increased the speed of lengthy file system scans for malware, and the restriction on the volume of PC resources consumed has been lifted.

If users already have one of the company’s solutions, it will automatically be upgraded to the 2020 version.

According to the Kaspersky Security Bulletin in Kaspersky Security Network report, in October 2019 alone, Viet Nam ranked 33rd worldwide among countries with the highest share of malicious objects detected (accounts for 15.2 per cent), and ranked 59th worldwide among countries with the highest share of attacks on users’ computers (accounts for 5.5 per cent).

Vo Vuong Tu Diem, territory channel manager at Kaspersky Vietnam, said: “As cybercriminals are using more and more sophisticated methods to attack users' personal information, upgrading in Kaspersky products is essential. By constantly bringing top-notch security products to customers, Kaspersky desires to continue its mission to build a safer world, when everyone has access to the endless opportunities that technology brings.” — VNS
