HA NOI (Biz Hub) — US-based Apple's high-grade iPhone 5S only ranked sixth in battery life as compared to smartphones produced by other big manufacturers in the same class, according to VnReview Smartphone Rankings 2014.
In the battery life category, LG G2 garnered top slot, followed by Sony Xperia Z1 and Samsung Galaxy S4 in high-class smartphones. South Korea's LG Optimus G and China's Lenovo P780 ranked first among middle-class ones, while Japan's Sony Xperia M took the first place in the low-cost smartphone segment.
However, iPhone's 5S gains the first place on rankings in onscreen colour display and sound quality. Meanwhile, products of Taiwan-based mobile device manufacturer, HTC, ranked high in all classes for onscreen colour display, but fared poorly in sound quality. Specifically, HTC One ranked second in high-class smartphones, HTC One X and HTC Desire 300 are the top runners for middle and low-cost segment.
South Korean Samsung's smartphones, including Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S3, only ranked last in these two categories.
Finnish Nokia, Samsung, and LG were rated as the best in customer care. China's Huawei, Taiwanese HTC along with Lenovo, Apple, and FPT were rated worst for customer care.
This is the first time that VNReview technology page of the Nha Dau Tu (Investor) magazine has published rankings on battery life, screen, sound of smartphones, and customer care provided by the manufacturers.
The review was conducted by editors and experts of the publication on 23 smartphones manufactured by leading mobile phone companies in the world from October 2013 to January 2014. They use specialised equipment to measure screen reflection, brightness, contrast, and colour, and appraise the quality of sound in a well-equipped lab.
Le Hanh, head of the VNReview editorial staff, expressed hope that the rankings will provide a reliable measure for the Vietnamese smartphone market.
"The manufacturers will be able to identify problems in their products and improve them as well as raise the quality of customer support. The local consumers will be able to take advantage of it and will be favourable for the market," she emphasized. — VNS
