Nutritional information and methods to improve health were discussed at a recent online sports nutrition training programme called "Advanced Nutrition - Sports Achievement" in HCM City.

Jointly organised by Viet Nam Olympic Committee and Herbalife Vietnam, the class offered information about nutrition and sports to officials, nutritionists, coaches from the national and provincial sports training centres, universities, the Viet Nam Olympic Committee, and other clubs and federations. The aim was to provide them with more lessons and experiences in offering good nutrition programmes during their training.

At the class, Dr Dana Ryan, head of Herbalife Nutrition Global Sports Performance and Education Programme, spoke about nutrition strategies, tips on how to provide the most suitable sports nutrition for the body, and the best nutrition stories of sports teams around the world.

The training aims to provide useful information and experience in sports nutrition training, thereby helping Vietnamese athletes improve their performance by applying the best nutritional solutions.

Dr Ryan also answered coaches' and athletes' questions about specific workouts and diets, and shared her insights and experiences working with athletes. She also emphasised the vital role of nutritional products that strengthen an athlete's strength and endurance, and help them recover after training.

Tran Van Manh, general secretary of the Viet Nam Olympic Committee, said: "Athletes need scientific nutrition to enhance strength and endurance in the training and competition process. The right menu at every meal, the additional protein, vitamins, and minerals are important to boost energy and keep fit. Athletes need to be trained regularly with proper nutrition, which is one of the fundamental foundations to ensure the background and readiness for the regional and international arenas."

The training is part of a long-term cooperation programme between Herbalife Nutrition and the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) and Viet Nam Paralympic Association (VPA) from 2017 to 2021.

Accordingly, Herbalife Nutrition sponsors sports nutrition products, nutrition training, awards, and other support for top athletes participating in regional and international sports tournaments, including the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, ASIAD and Asian Para Games, Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and Summer Paralympic Games. — VNS
