Following the success of Google's Gaming Growth Lab in 2021 and 2022, Google will further expand the programme beyond mobile game developers to tools and utilities mobile app developers and offer open access to educational content in 2023.
This year, Apps Growth Lab (previously known as Gaming Growth Lab programme) will be open for the top up-and-coming app developer studios in Viet Nam looking to accelerate their business.
The Apps Growth Lab features three key improvements from the previous programme.
First, it expands the training content to tools and utility app developers, in addition to gaming. Second, access to educational content will be opened to welcome a bigger number of developers participating in the programme for a higher impact to the ecosystem. Third, the new programme will have a longer supporting phase to attend developer businesses over three months to help provide game and app studios with sufficient time to absorb and implement the teachings from intensive training.
‘According to the e-Conomy SEA report 2022, Viet Nam’s gross merchandise value in the digital economy is on course to reach US$50 billion in 2025. On average, seven out of 10 game studios in Viet Nam target overseas markets and gaming is becoming the next high-value export industry for Viet Nam,” said Nopparat Yokubon, head of AppDev Sales for Google Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
“Developers are a key part of it. To sustainably support the fast-growing pace of Viet Nam’s digital economy, Google wants to reach out to more apps developers beyond the gaming industry and provide them with sufficient training as well as practical exchanges from not only Google experts but also industry veterans,” she added.
“Participating in Gaming Growth Lab 2022 has helped our team become more confident and commit to the company's development orientation: producing and serving global market users with the quality games,” Luong Minh Nguyen, CEO of Neon Production, said.
App developer studios who are accepted to be part of the 2023 cohort will be able to experience a four-month programme that covers four core pillars: build, develop, launch, and scale.
