Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hoàng Long has recommended that the company collaborate with Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận provinces.
HÀ NỘI — Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hoàng Long on Monday encouraged a solar energy company from Germany to invest in Việt Nam.
He had a working session with Blueberry Energy in Hà Nội about collaboration opportunities in Việt Nam.
Speaking at the meeting, Blueberry Energy’s chief executive officer Christian Schaefer said that in Europe, the company is carrying out solar energy projects with a total capacity of over 400 megawatts (MW), and energy storage systems of 250 MW.
He expressed his hope to develop solar energy projects in Việt Nam, specifically, the company is interested in investing in the 'German Friendship Solar Project' – a model solar energy project that combines advanced German technology, integrates energy storage systems (BESS) and includes innovative elements such as agricultural production under solar panels.
“This model is expected to bring high economic and environmental benefits, while also supporting research and application in Việt Nam,” he said.
Deputy Minister Long recommended the company works with localities that have great potential for renewable energy, such as Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận provinces.
“These are two areas with favourable natural conditions, abundant land resources and are ready to cooperate with investors to implement large-scale projects,” he said.
He also emphasised that the green hydrogen project in Trà Vinh Province is currently benefitting from many preferential policies in Việt Nam, attracting particular interest from countries in the European Union.
He highlighted Germany's role in the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and encouraged the company to leverage green funding from JETP members to implement projects in Việt Nam.
