The Vietnam-USA Society English Centers (VUS) in HCM City will donate eight high-flow nasal cannula ventilators and 5,000 sets of level-4 medical protective clothing to doctors treating COVID-19 patients at four hospitals.

The eight ventilators and 5,000 sets of level-4 medical protective clothing are worth VND1.3 billion (US$56,926).

The hospitals are the City Children’s Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Le Van Thinh Hospital, and Cu Chi COVID-19 Treatment Hospital.

VUS this month will continue carrying out the Quan Tam Se Chia (Care & Share) programme to donate 20 tonnes of rice to disadvantaged households and individuals affected by the pandemic.

In a VUS programme starting on August 13, more than 70,000 students and 2,400 teachers as well as their assistants will play a game answering questions relating to social knowledge. Each score will be converted into rice which will be donated to disadvantaged households and individuals in the city.

Le Quang Thuc Quynh, general director of VUS, said: “Targeting the value of humanities in education, VUS will continue carrying out social welfare projects to reduce the financial burden for Vietnamese families and maintain English learning for millions of students throughout the country through free classes during the COVID-19 outbreak.” — VNS
