E-label, a voluntary initiative implemented by Pernod Ricard, has officially been launched in Việt Nam to foster a culture where consumers can make informed drinking decisions in alignment with national guidelines.

The launching of E-label not only enhances public health efforts but also strengthens Pernod Ricard's reputation as a socially responsible brand in the beverage industry, the company said.

Following Singapore, Việt Nam is the second market where E-label has been launched to help consumers make informed decisions about whether to drink and how much they drink.

The digital label, accessible through a QR code, is printed on the back label of all Pernod Ricard brands. By scanning the QR code with any mobile device, consumers in Việt Nam will be led directly to a dedicated webpage that provides in-depth product information of the beverage scanned, alcohol-related health risks, guidelines on responsible drinking, and more.

This will be the first digital label introduced globally by a wines and spirits group, showing Pernod Ricard’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

Olivier Fages, managing director of Pernod Ricard Vietnam and Cambodia, said: “Our focus on sustainability is driven by a long-term vision. For Pernod Ricard, it goes beyond meeting regulatory requirements; it is about making a real, lasting impact.

"With various S&R initiatives like Drink More Water to raise awareness on the importance of drinking water and pacing oneself when consuming alcohol, The Bar World of Tomorrow to educate bartenders on responsible hosting and consumer experiences, and now E-label, we promote a culture of moderation and responsibility among those who choose to drink, respecting adults’ freedom to make informed decisions about whether and how much they drink. As one of the first launches in Southeast Asia, this digital label initiative highlights our commitment to making responsible drinking both accessible and engaging.”

With the launching of E-label, Pernod Ricard Vietnam offers a more informative, convenient, and engaging products experience for consumers. The digital nature of E-label also enables updates, ensuring information stays current and relevant. The ease of access to information through E-label also caters to tech-savvy and health-conscious consumers, fostering trust and brand loyalty.

The introduction of E-label also sets a new standard within the industry for transparency and accountability by providing more detailed and accessible product information. This can lead to a broader industry shift towards greater integrity, potentially impacting regulatory standards in various markets. — VNS
