DA NANG (Biz Hub) — Da Nang's Department of Information and Communications inaugurated its Center of Integrated Circuits (CENTIC) in Quang Trung Software Park on January 11.

The center will conduct research on integrated circuit (IC) technique and design, as well as embedded systems. It will also apply IC technology to telecommunications equipment, domestic electronic equipment and the industrial production chain. In addition, it will focus on educating workers and co-operating with local and international units to develop high-value products.

Pham Kim Son, the director of the department as well as the director of CENTIC, told the Da Nang online newspaper the centre will play an important role in IC development and contribute to attracting investments in the IC industry in Da Nang and the central area.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Da Nang City People's Committee vice chairman Phung Tan Viet said: "The city is committed to creating suitable conditions for the functioning and policies of CENTIC. We also call for support from consultants to help the centre develop products that are highly effective and have several applications." — VNS
