Twenty two units, enterprises and students and one individual received the 2019 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Awards from the HCM City Department of Information and Technology on Saturday.
They were awarded in six categories: unit with most effective implementation of ICT, business with exceptional software solutions and products, business with outstanding hardware solutions and products, business with excellent value-added services, unit and individual with exceptional contribution to the city’s ICT development, and ICT student with outstanding learning or research result.
Le Manh Ha, former vice chairman of the Government Office and the HCM City People’s Committee, and Viettel HCM City were the winners in the categories of unit and individual with exceptional contribution to the city’s ICT development.
Other winners were FSI, MISA, Lac Viet and FPT in the business with exceptional software solutions and products category, FTO and Vlight for outstanding hardware solutions and products and CMC, VNPT and HPT for excellent value-added services.
This year the awards sought to honour spectacular ICT products and solutions that have a positive effect on the work to transform HCM City into a smart city.
The awards were given along with a series of events under the 2019 HCM City Information Technology Businesses and Artificial Intelligence Day organised by the department in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, the HCM Computer Association, Quang Trung Software City (QTSC), and others.
Speaking at the event, city Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan said the city was a pioneer in IT development in the country.
“Currently QTSC is the largest software park in the country with 165 operating businesses, 27 investors, more than 11,000 engineers and IT staff.
“HCM City is the only locality that manufactures integrated circuits.”
Nguyen Thanh Phong, chairman of the city People’s Committee, said, “The rapid development of technologies during the fourth industrial revolution with technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence and the internet of things offers a great opportunity for the city to carry out plans on smart city development to maximise its potentials and strengths.”
Transformation of the city’s growth model with a focus on innovation and advanced technologies is imperative to ensure the city’s development and maintain its leading economic role in the country, he added. — VNS
