HA NOI (Biz Hub) — National carrier Vietnam Airlines has stopped supplying its charging service for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 during its flights.

Following an instruction of the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) issued on September 9, the carrier has asked its customers not to put the phones in their check-in baggage due to concerns over the phone's fire-prone batteries.

The carrier said the temporary ban on the charging service was in connection with a warning from the US Federal Aviation Administration, which strongly advised passengers to follow its guidance "in light of recent incidents and concerns raised by Samsung about its Galaxy Note 7 devices."

Samsung Electronics, the world's largest smartphone maker from South Korea, on September 10 urged consumers to stop using Galaxy Note 7 smartphones immediately and exchange them as soon as possible, as more reports of the phones catching fire emerged even after the company's global recall. — VNS
