DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The Viet Nam Business Process Outsourcing (VBPO) and Japanese partner GROP company have opened the first Offshore Dedicated Centre at Da Nang Software Park.

It is the first BPO office in Viet Nam that aims to provide BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) services and technology solutions.

BPO is a subset of outsourcing that involves the contracting of the operations and responsibilities of specific business functions to a third-party service.

Sales Manager of VBPO-GROP ODC Nakamura KoiChi said the launch of the BPO in Da Nang was part of the plan to draw investment from businesses in foreign countries including China and Japan.

VBPO, established four years ago, employs 500 employees of which 40 per cent are persons with disabilities, and has a revenue of VND30 billion or US$1.4 million per year.

Japanese businesses have invested $356 million in 68 projects in the city. Operating in Da Nang's six industrial zones, they employ over 27,000 people.

Tokyo Keiki Inc and Niwa Foundry were the first two investors in the 1,010-hectare Hi-Tech Park last year, with a total investment of $62 million. — VNS
