Japanese retailer Aeon Viet Nam on Tuesday gave away scholarships worth nearly VND400 million (US$19,000) to 60 outstanding students from the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities and HCM City University of Pedagogy.

HCM CITY (VNS) — Japanese retailer Aeon Viet Nam on Tuesday gave away scholarships worth nearly VND400 million (US$19,000) to 60 outstanding students from the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities and HCM City University of Pedagogy.
Each was worth $290 and will last a year.
Sponsored by the Aeon One Per Cent Club, the scholarships were awarded for a fourth time to HCM City university students.
The One per Cent Club was launched in 1989 with support from Aeon Group companies who contribute 1 per cent of their pre-tax profit every year.
Since 2006 Aeon has been granting scholarships around Asia to outstanding disadvantaged students. In Viet Nam, around 150 have benefited so far. — VNS
