QUANG NAM (Biz Hub) — The Chu Lai-Truong Hai Complex has produced more than 32,000 vehicles, including 16,000 trucks, in the first six months of this year, an increase of 78 per cent over the same period last year.
The Chairman of the Truong Hai Automobile joint stock company, the owner of the complex, said during a meeting last week that Thaco had contributed VND5.3 trillion (US$252 million) to the State budget in the first half of the year.
Mazda cars have seen the highest growth, with a 120 per cent increase year on year, he said.
The complex employs 6,300 labourers working in four automobile plants, a logistics centre and a ports.
According to the latest report of the Viet Nam Automobile Association (VAMA), its members sold nearly 17,000 automobiles in May.
Thaco sold 6,600 cars, holding a 39 per cent market share in Viet Nam in May, VAMA said.
The Quang Nam-based car maker also took the lead in the car sales table with nearly 28,000 units sold in five months this year, accounting for 37.5 per cent of VAMA's market share. — VNS
