HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The 20 best entries have been chosen for the final round of a competition called "Young Achiever's Safe Food Ingredient Award."
They were selected from scores of food products and additives sent in by students from 19 universities and colleges around Viet Nam, including fruit jams, candies, vegetable wraps, biscuits, dried fruits, wines.
"The competition is a national award, and requires participants to provide a written proposal, an oral presentation and a poster presentation at the upcoming 2015 Food Ingredient [Fi] Viet Nam," Rungphech Chitanuwat, business director of UBM Asia (Thailand), the organiser of expo the and co-organiser of the contest, said.
"Each participating team will create an innovative new food product concept, much like commercial product development," she said.
"The competition provides a valuable professional development opportunity for Vietnamese students to improve their creative and scientific skills working as team, and a link between industry, students and potential employment," she said.
UBM has said it will fund the 20 teams to develop their entries.
The winner will be announced at Fi Viet Nam to be held from May 20 to 22 in HCM City.
The contest is also organised by the Saigon Technology University and Viet Nam Association of Food Science and Technology.— VNS
