Drinking water supply systems and 37 5,000-litre water tanks costing a total of VND3 billion (US$131,287) have been donated to 28 schools in Long An Province’s Tan Hung District under a community programme sponsored by La Vie Natural Mineral Water.

A border district in the west of Long An, Tan Hung is affected by water acidification and the result is a severe shortage of clean water.

Through the ‘Clean Water for Schools’ programme of the HCM City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients, La Vie has donated water supply systems that will serve nearly 10,000 people, or more than 96 per cent of the total number of school students, staff and teachers in the district.

La Vie also awarded students 50 scholarships worth a total of VND50 million ($2,188).

Initiated by Truong Tan Sang, the country’s former president, and Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, chairman of Global Integration Business Consultants, the programme seeks to provide water that meets national quality standards to students and teachers in rural areas.

It is also part of the company’s efforts over years to benefit the community by establishing drinking water stations, and donating water to people affected by drought and salinity and COVID frontline workers.

La Vie is the only business in Viet Nam to have received the AWS certification for stewarding water resource sustainably. — VNS
