Prudential Vietnam Assurance Private Ltd. (Prudential Vietnam) and Eastspring Investments Fund Management Limited Liability Company (Eastspring Vietnam) have joined hands with Save the Children for a COVID-19 relief programme called “We are in this together” that will provide emergency support to frontline hospitals and vulnerable children.
Its first phase will focus on emergency response activities to support communities most in need.
It will donate 1,300 packages of medical supplies, including 3M N95 face masks, hand sanitisers and personal protective equipment to patients and medical professionals in hospitals to minimise transmission of the disease.
It will also reach out to children in poor and migrant households and children with disabilities, many of whom have been significantly affected by the current outbreak in Hoa Vang District in Da Nang, a mountainous area with the largest number of vulnerable families in Viet Nam.
It seeks to provide these children with essential relief materials, including food and personal hygiene products.
The second phase will focus on longer-term objectives like building community resilience. The main beneficiaries will be vulnerable children, including those from poor and migrant families and those with disabilities.
A series of activities will be undertaken at six schools in Da Nang City to improve hygiene and nutrition, benefiting 7,000 children.
Disadvantaged children will be provided with soap, hand sanitisers, face masks, nutritious snacks, and school supplies.
The programme will seek ways to ensure children with disabilities can access hygiene facilities and provide them with learning aids to help them study better.
To raise awareness among families about COVID-19 prevention, the programme will distribute educational materials to schools and parents.
With a total funding of VND3 billion (US$128,560), “We are in this together” is part of Prudential’s COVID-19 relief programme in Asia, the US and Africa.
In April, in response to a call from the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Prudential had donated 152,000 masks and 10,000 bottles of hand sanitisers to doctors, patients and volunteer militias at 10 frontline hospitals in Ha Noi and HCM City. — VNS
