HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Renault Russia has begun exporting cars assembled in Moscow and Tolyatti to Viet Nam, according to reports on February 26.

Director General of Renault Russia Andrey Pankov said it's the first export supply of light vehicles from Russia to the country. The Logan and Sandero Stepway vehicles produced by Tolyatti-based Avtovaz and Renault Duster, which are assembled in Moscow, will be shipped to Viet Nam.

Pankov said exports were becoming increasingly important in light of the car production development strategy aimed at enabling import substitution and enhancing the competitiveness of the Russian products, adding that cars produced in Russia with domestically-manufactured parts were supplied to the non-CIS market for the first time.

Supplies to Viet Nam mark the beginning of a new era for the Russian industrial project of the Renault-Nissan-Avtovaz alliance, aimed at Russia's further integration into the global car market. — VNS
