HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Mercedes-Benz Viet Nam (MBV) is targeting the truck market in Viet Nam with its recently launched Fuso brand, Michael Behrens, CEO of MBV, said in HCM City on October 9.

The German auto manufacturer will be the exclusive importer, manufacturer and distributor of all Fuso products in the market.

"The truck business is an opportunity for us. We now join the race and face many competitive truck brands as a market challenge, but at the same time we are making our business more sustainable and stable," said Behrens, adding that the company's first priority is still its well-established and renowned passenger-car business.

Although he did not disclose details about MBV's targeted sales and revenue, the CEO, however, was optimistic that MBV would eventually become the leader in the truck market in Viet Nam.

MBV representatives said that in the past Fuso only served light-duty trucks, but now the brand was making medium-duty Fighter trucks and heavy-duty Tractor trucks.

In August, the first Fuso Fighter built in Viet Nam rolled out from the MBV factory. The first lot of 44 Fighter trucks had already been fully booked by customers. — VNS
