HA NOI (Biz Hub) — This year's Vietnam Two-wheel Vehicle International Expo will take place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in HCM City from December 4-7.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Ha Noi, Deputy Director of the Asia-Pacific Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dao Ngoc Chuong, said the event aims to promote cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises within the Southeast Asian region.

According to Yao Lujie, head of the exhibition's organising board, the event will serve as an important occasion for China's bicycle industry to take advantage of incentives to boost their presence in target markets.

The 2,000 sq.m exhibition will allow Vietnamese and international enterprises to introduce new models to consumers; showcasing bicycles, electric and sports bikes, hi-tech spare parts and energy-saving vehicles from world famous brands including BH, Giant, Merida and Yadi.

A new range of sportswear, safety gear and equipment will also be introduced at the event, while a conference will also be held to discuss how to foster cooperation in the two-wheel sector.

The conference is timely as the daily use of bicyles in Viet Nam has seen a steady increase, according to a report from website vietnamcycle.vn.

Bike and electric bicycles imported from Japan, China and Taiwan have claimed 80 per cent of domestic market share, while domestically produced brands such as Emirates, Delta, Hitasa and Martin 107, account for 8 per cent. — VNS
