US automaker Ford has announced it will bring several of its globally popular products to Viet Nam this year.
They will include the 2022 Explorer and Transit.
It also said it would improve its dealership network to better serve the needs of customers.
“Last year, Viet Nam was considered as one of the four key markets along with Thailand, South Africa and Australia to increase support in terms of resources, marketing and product strategies,” the company said.
In 2021, the company sold 23,700 vehicles in the country, maintaining its leadership in the pickup segment with. It had a 40 per cent share in the midsize SUV segment.
Despite the difficulties faced by the auto industry in 2021, 15,650 units of the Ford Ranger were sold, an 18 per cent increase from the previous year and accounting for nearly 60 per cent of the pickup market.
Midsize SUV Everest too sustained its growth, selling 5,485 vehicles.
Transit remained the best-selling commercial van and bus for a ninth year in a row with sales reaching 898 units.
During the challenging time of the pandemic, Ford implemented new policies to support customers such as free labour for vehicle inspection, free home delivery and free cleaning and disinfection. — VNS
