KIEN GIANG (Biz Hub) — The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) will be providing information safety and e-government solutions needed to set up an e-government system in the southern province of Kien Giang.

This is one of four major parts of a strategic cooperation agreement on telecommunications and information technology for 2014-20 which the VNPT, a state-owned business, and the provincial People's Committee signed on September 4.

Under this agreement, the VNPT will build technology infrastructure and provide solutions to ensure the implementation of information safety policies, thereby meeting the demand to establish an e-government system in the province. The group will assist Kien Giang in applying the technology and training telecommunications and information technology staff for it.

It will also offer transmission services and digital authentication for the connection, management and implementation of e-government in the province.

Earlier, the VNPT became a strategic partner in the setting up of e-government systems in six cities and provinces, including Hai Phong, Dien Bien, Phu Yen and Tien Giang, as well as Tay Ninh and Ha Nam. — VNS
