VNPT Member Council gets new Chairman

HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Tran Manh Hung, General Director of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the group's Member Council.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed the appointment letter on March 23.

Hung replaces former Chairman Pham Long Tran, who retired on March 1.

Born in 1959, Hung started working for VNPT in 1981. He was appointed VNPT's Deputy General Director in 1999 and the Director of VNPT Ha Noi in 2007. He also joined its member council later.

He was appointed as the group's General Director in August 2013.

VNPT has a chartered capital of VND72 trillion (US$3.4 billion).

The main business activities of VNPT include providing posts, telecommunications and information technology (IT) products and services. It is also involved in manufacturing, importing, exporting, and supplying telecommunication, IT and media materials and equipment.

It also provides media products and services and participates in the real-estate industry by leasing offices; as well as supplying financial, credit and banking services. —VNS
