HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security aims to co-operate more with other countries on preventing cyber crime, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong said on Wednesday at a conference.

The two-day event, the first ever on international cyber crime prevention and control held in Viet Nam, gave participants a platform for breaking down legal barriers in order to fight these crimes.

Cyber crimes, or crimes committed using advanced technology, have become a major threat to social order and safety around the globe, said Lieutenant General Phan Van Vinh, general director of the General Police Department for Crime Prevention and Control. Viet Nam's Police Department for High-Tech Crime Prevention started working with foreign agencies in 2009 to combat these illegal activities and has investigated nearly 100 cases.
