Vsmart on Friday officially launched four new smartphones.
Vsmart products use a VOS operating system developed on the Android platform, with prices ranging from VND2.5 million (US$106) to VND6.3 million ($269).
Tran Minh Trung, general director of VinSmart, said: “We are currently using laboratories in the United States, the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Israel and Singapore to study new technologies used for smart electronics." He said with the advantage of technology, human resources and factories, VinSmart planned to launch 10 smart phones in 2019.”

VinSmart inks deal with Qualcomm
The same day, VinSmart reached an agreement on intellectual property rights with the US-based leading semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm Incorporated.
Under the agreement, Qualcomm will provide proprietary (paid) intellectual property rights to VinSmart for the development, production and sale of terminal equipment. VinSmart will officially join the list of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide.
VinSmart and Qualcomm also agreed to accelerate strategic co-operation between the two sides in the fields of Smartphone, IoT devices, Automotive, 5G, AI and Machine Learning. Specifically, both firms will jointly develop a number of footprints using in smart homes, smart retail, smart manufacturing and smart cities; set up a programme for R&D of products, build test facilities for smartphones, IoT devices and other products manufactured by VinSmart. — VNS
