HA NOI (Biz Hub) — VinaPhone, the third largest Vietnamese mobile network, on July 30, announced that it successfully conducted tests to increase its 3G network to download data at a maximum speed of 42Mbps.
Its technical experts have incorporated DC-HSDPA (Dual Carrier-High Speed Data Packet Access) into its 3G network. This has made speed six times faster than it is at present, allowing users to download a movie with a capacity of 5Gbits in two minutes and seven seconds, instead of 12 minutes and 42 seconds.
VinaPhone will carry out the proof test at base transceiver stations (BTS) in Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City. It will then be implemented at its 3G BTS all over the country at the beginning of 2015.
At the moment, the mobile network is cooperating with equipment providers to raise its 3G speed to 84Mbps, to connect to the Internet.
Doan Xuan Hop, deputy head of VinaPhone's sales office, said that the network will continue developing wide bandwidth and high speed as well as bring new facilities for users, especially payment services via mobile phones. — VNS
