HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viettel Corporation officially launched a telecom package for blind people on June 18.

This is the first time that the blind in Viet Nam have been offered a telecom package exclusively designed for them.

The package, called Speak SIM, includes a prepaid SIM card and a smartphone installed with Viettel Speak voice software on Android platform.

The software provides voice service in the north, central, and south of Viet Nam to help customers use their smartphones easily. Viettel has purchased the software rights for its customers.

Although the package is not limited, customers need to do only one transaction within 60 days, such as getting a top-up, making calls, or sending messages. The package also comes with free 3G data to access radio application to update news.

There are three million people, including students, with visual impairment in Viet Nam. One of the most common difficulty that blind people come across while using smartphones is the lack of Vietnamese voice to support customers.

Cao Van Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Blind Association, said Speak SIM package is one of the friendly and supportive products that can assist the blind in daily lives.

"It helps the blind to access smartphones and telecom services easier. I am impressed with the personalisation of the package in every region of the country," he added.

The package will be available from July at Viettel stores across the country. Audio instructions will be offered with the package. — VNS
