HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Vietnamese start-up Triip just raised US$500,000 in seed funding from Shanghai-based Gobi Partners, reported Techinasia, an online platform for Asia's tech community.
Triip.me is a platform that connects people who desire to experience local culture with those who are looking at offering specially designed tours that focus on local cultural experiences.
The platform, which brings the Airbnb concept to local tours, allows anybody to create their own tour package and sell it to travelers.
Today, Triip is available in 86 countries, with 5,000 traveling experiences created by over 9,000 Triip creators.
Gobi Partners has a portfolio of over 130 companies in China and Southeast Asia.
Ho Viet Hai, Triip co-founder, told Techinasia that more than the funds, Gobi Partners adds value to the startup through its knowledge and experience in the travel market.
In addition to Triip, Gobi Partners also backs Chinese tour package provider Tuniu, place-of-interest discovery app Spottly, and Indonesian travel platform Tripvisto. — VNS
