HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam joined 13 other countries in addressing cyber security incidence responses at the 2015 ASEAN Computer Emergency Response Team Incident Drills (ACID) on October 28.

The drill is an annual event organised by information security agencies, especially computer emergency response teams from many countries.

Besides Viet Nam, 13 other countries also took part in the rehearsal including Australia, Japan, China, India, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar.

Countries focused on responding to cyber attacks in order to enhance competence in dealing with real situations and particular skills in implementing investigation, analysis and response.

In Viet Nam, the drill will be deployed in three cities, including Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City, with assistance from the information and technology (IT) sector from the central offices, departments of information and communications, and ministerial-level agencies.

There are also groups and corporations providing telecommunications, information, technology and information security services such as MobiFone, VNPT, Viettel, FPT and the Bach Khoa Software and Internet Security Solution Centre, Viet Nam Information Security Association and Viet Nam Association for Information Processing.

Viet Nam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) is in charge of regulating the drills in the three cities.

VNCERT detected more than three million IP addresses, which were infected and controlled by host computers outside of Việt Nam.

The centre also found 18,085 infected websites that had spread malware on the Internet, including 88 state agency websites.

In addition, 5,400 phishing sites and 7,400 websites were attacked for defacement.

VNCERT has taken part in many information safety drills since the beginning of this year, including drills between ASEAN and Japan and countries in the Asia-Pacific region. — VNS
