HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The broken Asia-America Gateway (AAG) undersea cable will be completely repaired by July 30, restoring full Internet connectivity between Viet Nam and other countries.
According to FPT Telecom, a cable-welding ship was authorised to enter Vietnamese waters on July 21, and began welding operations from 3 a.m on July 26. The welding activities will be completed on July 28, it reported.
On July 15, the cable was found cut 18 kilometres off the coast of Vung Tau City reducing the Internet connectivity by 40 per cent. Internet service providers in Viet Nam implemented various measures such as transferring capacity of the line to cable systems on the mainland to ensure the capability and quality of the Internet. — VNS
