HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Agreements on sixteen technology transfers worth VND147 billion (US$7 million) were signed during the 2013 TechDemo on Thursday in the northern province of Thai Binh.

Several of the agreements are expected to prove extremely beneficial to the country during its development. The Bach Khoa Consultancy & Technology Transfer one member Company, or BKContech, under the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, has shared its technology used in the manufacturing of uncooked bricks from the slag heaps produced by thermoelectric power plants to the Quang Ninh-based Bai Tho Building Materials Company. An agreement was reached to supply the technology for VND80 billion ($3.8 million).

The Southeast Asia Institute for Water Resources and the Environment also signed a cooperative agreement to use new irrigation technology to develop the agricultural sector, worth VND10 billion ($476,000), with the NUSA Vietnam Energy and Environment Technology Joint Stock Company.

The programme, with 65 domestic and international firms taking part, will utilise more than 100 new kinds of technology in different fields, including mechanical engineering, automation technology, biological technology and chemical technologies. — VNS
