Q3: Viettel gains nearly VND600 billion from foreign markets

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Business operations abroad brought a profit of VND592.2 billion (US$28.2 million) in revenue for Viettel Global Investment Joint Stock Company in its 2013 third quarter, according to its report.

Viettel Global, a member company of Viettel Corporation, gained VND3.1 trillion ($147.6 million) in revenue in the third quarter this year. Meanwhile, its total revenue in the nine first months of the year reached nearly VND7.9 trillion ($376.1 million), over a third more (35.2 per cent) than the same period last year.

The report shows that the total assets of the company in the first three quarters of 2013 increased by VND5 trillion ($238 million), reaching to more than VND21.4 trillion ($1.01 billion).

Viettel Global invests in telecommunications operations in Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste, Mozambique, Cameroon and Haiti. Apart from Cameroon which made a loss of VND57.8 billion ($2.7 million), the remaining markets have brought profits for the company.

Cambodia contributes the largest amount with VND277.3 billion ($13.2 million) of profit, followed by Mozambique with VND178.3 billion ($8.4 million) of profit.

At the same period last year, the international market brought in only VND392 billion ($18.6 million) for the company.

Currently, Viettel Global has six subsidiary companies, including Viettel Overseas (100 per cent shareholder), Viettel Cambodia (90 per cent), Movitel (70 per cent),Viettel Timor Leste (100 per cent) and Viettel Cameroon (70 per cent). — VNS
