HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has launched the mobile application "VOV ban do giao thong (VOV traffic map)" with the Radio Voice of Vietnam's (VOV's) Traffic Channel to reduce traffic jams.

The application will provide real-time traffic information and display points of traffic congestion in the routes of users throughout the country.

It will also suggest route choices for users to avoid traffic jams. Drivers will be able to access traffic camera systems to see the current traffic conditions, so they can make an informed decision about the traffic route that will be most suitable for them.

Also, photos from their smartphones and tablets can be sent directly to the traffic channel.

The application can be downloaded from Samsung Apps or the Google Play Store.

At the moment, the application will provide updates on traffic only in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. It is expected to expand to all cities and provinces in the country by 2015.

At the launch of the mobile application, Samsung Deputy General Director Nguyen Van Dao said the application will be compatible with Samsung smartphones and tablets at first, and it will then be available on all smartphones with an Android operating system.

The application is a result of the efforts of the channel to help commuters and also dovetails with Samsung's strategy to apply technology to social issues. — VNS
