MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation (MobiFone) has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Information and Communications to test 5G service in Ha Noi and HCM City to evaluate technology and the market before official implementation, said its general director Nguyen Dang Nguyen.

Specifically, MobiFone asked for a 5G trial licence from September last year. After that, MobiFone has asked the Ministry of Information and Communications for permission to test 5G.

In particular, MobiFone proposed that the ministry allow the operator to test at the bandwidth of 3,500-3,800MHz and 26,000MHz. Currently, MobiFone is working with equipment suppliers to prepare for this test.

If approved by the ministry, 5G would be tested in two major markets of HCM City and Ha Noi, the Ha Noi Moi (New Ha Noi) newspaper quoted Nguyen as saying. — VNS
