HA NOI (Biz Hub) — MobiFone on December 3 launched WiTalk, an over–the–top service (OTT) that allows users to call and text via wi-fi.
Mobile network service providers Viettel and Vinaphone had launched their OTT services, Mocha and VietTalk, respectively, earlier.
WiTalk allows users to make and receive calls or send and receive messages via wi-fi.
Unlike other OTT services, it is not binding on customers receiving calls or messages to install WiTalk.
In particular, MobiFone subscribers travelling abroad will be able to use WiTalk for free.
Currently, customers with Android phones can download WiTalk from Google Store. MobiFone would provide this service to other operating systems as soon as possible, a customer service employee of MobiFone said.
From December 3, 2015, to February 28, 2016, MobileFone's internal network calls will not be charged. For external network calls, MobiFone will charge VND550 (US$0.02) per minute and VND250 ($0.01) per message. — VNS.
