HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Microsoft will end all support for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 operating systems from July 15, the company said in a statement.

Its customers will not be provided with updates, automatic fixes and technical support for the two operating systems.

The American technology corporation asked organisations and enterprises to upgrade their servers to new solutions or move them to cloud computing to prevent security and safety issues in the next six months.

Microsoft warned that if enterprises run Windows Server 2003 after July 15, their server systems and applications will face security threats and that it will be easier to stop using the two operating systems.

The 11-year-old Windows Server 2003 system has supported enterprises with email, web and line-of-business applications, which are a set of computer applications for running an enterprise.

Earlier, Microsoft ended support for the 12-year-old Windows XP operating system on April 8, 2014. Many users then upgraded to new operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows 8. — VNS
