HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province and Microsoft Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last November 4 to improve information technology (IT) facilities in the province.
According to Microsoft Viet Nam director Vu Minh Tri, under the MoU, the province's IT industry will be reinforced with Microsoft's comprehensive technology applications and solutions, thereby enabling the province to achieve socio-economic growth and improve the lives of its people.
The MoU also outlined mutual collaboration between the province and the company in upgrading focal areas of the province's IT facilities, including IT and smart city infrastructure, information security, cloud computing application development and IT human resource training, as well as applications for e-government management in social and economic areas and IT and electronics development.
Nguyen Nhan Chien, the committee chairman, said Bac Ninh was one of the fastest developing provinces in Viet Nam, ranking ninth among 63 cities and provinces which attracted the largest amounts of foreign investment.
However, the chairman added, the province still faced numerous limitations in IT facilities and human resources.
Chien viewed a solid IT infrastructure as a crucial and vital mission that would enable the province to face its challenges and promote its competitiveness.
For its part, Microsoft aims to build a smart city e-government platform and ensure maximum privacy and information security that will help solve Bac Ninh's existing IT difficulties and develop its IT industry.
The MoU has a significant meaning to Microsoft Vietnam, said Tri, adding that one of the company's top priorities included enabling Viet Nam to become a nation with a strong information and communications technology industry.
