Microsoft aims to enhance cybersecurity in Viet Nam

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Jean-Philippe Courtois, President, Microsoft International, met leaders of the leading businesses in Viet Nam to discuss cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, application development, and infrastructure management skills, on November 23.

Microsoft's president reaffirmed the commitment to Viet Nam's ICT 2020 Vision Policy - a government initiative to use technology to drive competiveness and national economic growth, saying, "As an emerging economic hotspot, Vietnam has huge potential to register the highest growth rate in the cloud sector across Southeast Asia."

Also at the meeting, cybersecurity was seen as a key concern among government bodies, organisations and enterprises in Viet Nam, especially, last year which saw numerous attacks on Vietnamese websites and organisations experiencing data loss due to malware infections.

Vu Minh Tri, country manager Microsoft Vietnam, said they were excited to support Vietnamese businesses in addressing these large-scale issues that are important to the Information Technology (IT) industry development here, as well as with the larger aim of making the Internet safer for every citizen.

In the meeting, participants also discussed how Microsoft could help businesses transform with new technological products such as Office 365 and Windows 10, Microsoft Azure and StorSimple.

Microsoft also said it would work with the government and local partners to assist in the development of IT human resources for Viet Nam. — VNS
