THAI NGUYEN (Biz Hub) – An information technology (IT) park will be constructed in the northern province of Thai Nguyen with a focus on IT research, development and training.
To be built on 482-hectares (ha) spread in the province's Yen Binh Complex, during the 2015 to 2016 period, the zone will also focus on production and trading of IT products and services and provisions of IT infrastructure.
The Yen Binh complex, located about 36 kilometres north of Ha Noi, covers more than 8,000ha in the Pho Yen and Phu Binh districts.
The IT park will receive investment from the Yen Binh Development and Investment Company, with the investment capital being mobilised from different resources.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nhu Van Tam said at a meeting held on Wednesday to discuss the project that the province had asked the provincial Department of Information and Technology to work with the Yen Binh Company to promptly complete the plan that will soon be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.
The establishment of the IT zone is part of the province's IT development master plan that was approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung last December, with the aim of developing Thai Nguyen into an industrial locality before 2020, he added.
During the 2014 to 2015, the master plan focused on building and completing related policies and mechanisms to fully tap the province's potential and strengths for IT and industrial development.
During the 2016 to 2020 period, it will support and improve vocational training quality to help develop the province's high-quality human resources, meet labour demand from local businesses and from both domestic and foreign investors.-VNS
