HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The city of Ha Noi has decided to invest VND30 billion, or $1.4 million, to improve the infrastructure of its Cau Giay Centralised Information Technology Zone.

Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, who is vice chairwoman of the Ha Noi People's Committee, stated this in a meeting on February 24.

She said that the city has also asked its departments to research on reasonable mechanisms and policies for its first centralized technology zone.

In the meeting, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son asked Ha Noi to complete the procedures for giving preferential treatment for enterprises to invest in the sector.

He also asked the city to sort out the knotty issues and to spread information to attract local and international investors.

Information technology firms in the zone expressed the hope that mechanisms and policies such as preferential tax offers would be implemented.

On August 28, 2013, the ministry extended recognition to the 8.5-hectare Cau Giay Centralised Information Technology Zone as a high technology zone.

Currently, there are 306 enterprises in the zone. Among them are leading technology companies such as FPT Corporation and Viettel Group. — VNS
