DA NANG (Biz Hub) — FPT Software has sent 101 information technology (IT) trainees from Da Nang, Ha Noi and HCM City to participate in a nine-month training programme in Japan.

The training is being held as part of the 10,000-Bridge Software Engineer (BrSE) programme.

FPT Software has sent 265 IT students to train at five universities in Tokyo, Japan, since 2014, as part of its human resource strategy in the 2014-18 period.

"It's a key project for boosting the Japanese IT market by 2020. We have 7,000 staff members, of which 4,000 IT engineers work for the Japan market," Project Director Quach Lieu Hoan said.

"We plan to fill a certain percentage of the deficiency in IT manpower in Japan in the 2014-20 period. A survey shows that 23.3 per cent of Japanese businesses choose Viet Nam as the second outsourced service provider in the world," she said, adding that only 700 IT engineers from FPT Software were fluent in the Japanese language.

She said the company had signed a five-year co-operation agreement with Meros Language School for teaching Japanese to IT engineers and trainees.

She said the trainees would be recruited by FPT Software partners in Japan, and would build links with partners such as Hitachi Solution, Hitachi Medical, Softbank Investment and NTT Data Financial Core, besides Fuji film in Japan in the future.

The programme aims to meet the demand for 60,000 IT engineers in Japan by 2020, of which 10,000 will come from Viet Nam and India.

According to FPT Software, the programme would help the company earn US$1 billion in revenue with a 30,000-strong workforce in 2020.

FPT Software, which has opened branches in the United States, France, Japan and Singapore, as well as Malaysia, HCM City, Can Tho and Da Nang, earns $100 million in revenue per year.

Last year, FPT Software acquired RWE IT Slovakia – a subsidiary of the RWE Group in Eastern Europe - to strengthen its global delivery capabilities in Europe, as well as to turn RWE IT Slovakia into a future FPT Slovakia, a member of the FPT family. — VNS
